About CMCI

The Central Medical Council of India (CMCI) was constituted under Order No. 2135/2000 and commenced operations on 7th August 2003, as per the notification by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Functioning as the principal body for regulating medical education and professional conduct in India, CMCI ensures that every institution, professional, and medical initiative adheres to the highest standards of quality, ethics, and transparency.

Key Functions of CMCI:

Policy Formation – Creating guidelines for maintaining and improving the standards of medical education and research.
Institutional Regulation – Approving, monitoring, and evaluating medical colleges and universities in India.
Healthcare Planning – Assessing the national demand for healthcare infrastructure and medical human resources.
Professional Ethics – Developing and enforcing a professional code of conduct for practitioners.
Coordination with State Councils – Working in tandem with State Medical Councils for efficient implementation of national policies.
Grievance Handling – Providing a structured mechanism for addressing complaints and appeals from students, professionals, and institutions.
Foreign Graduate Inclusion – Evaluating and integrating Indian students trained abroad into the national healthcare system.
To offer pathways for Indian medical graduates from abroad to serve in India.
